Senior Developer (Technical Lead)
At Merge Rocks we're looking for a Senior Developer (Technical Lead) to join our team.
We are searching for a Senior Developer for one of our valued clients, Hey Lady! We've been collaborating with them on design projects and are now assisting in finding a dedicated developer who can help them overcome their platform performance challenges and support their mission.
About the Project:Hey Lady! is a social learning web-browser application designed to connect women of diverse cultures through meaningful conversations. Their mission is to spark one billion conversations between women from different cultures, creating a community that genuinely cares for one another.
They launched in late 2021 and currently have 1,800 active paying users. Despite their progress, they face platform performance challenges that hinder our ability to scale effectively.
The Role: We are seeking an experienced Senior Developer (preferably a woman because of the context and idea of the project) to lead technical team, tackle these challenges, and help us achieve our ambitious mission. Someone who resonates with the mission and values of the project. You will lead our technical team, mentor our junior and mid-level engineers, and collaborate closely with the CEO and Product Manager to enhance our platform’s performance and scalability.
Take full ownership of the platform's performance and technical architecture;
Analyze, optimize, and improve complex SQL queries and address inefficiencies;
Guide, mentor, and support the development of junior and mid-level engineers;
Collaborate with the CEO and Product Manager to align technical strategies with business goals;
Develop a plan with measurable objectives to enhance platform performance and scalability;
Lead the team through problem-solving during high-traffic events and platform issues.
Tech Stack:
Backend: NestJS with TypeORM, Apollo
Database: Postgres, Redis
Hosting: Heroku (monolithic backend and frontend)
Architecture: Client-server, monolithic structure
Reporting: Metabase (SQL query platform)
Proven experience in technical leadership within a startup environment;
Expertise in optimizing complex SQL queries and database performance;
Experience in scaling monolithic architectures and improving system reliability;
Strong mentoring abilities to support and develop junior and mid-level engineers;
A proactive approach with a desire to take ownership and drive meaningful improvements.
